Causes and Ways to Treat Your Wrinkles

Wrinkles are a normal thing that appears in the aging process. As you get older, the elasticity of the skin will decrease. However, wrinkles are not only caused by the aging process! wrinkles are lines and folds that form above the surface of the skin. Some wrinkles can form as deep, obvious cracks, such as around the eyes, smile lines, and neck. What does cause wrinkles to form on the skin? Let's look at the explanation below!

Controllable factors:

  • Exposure To Ultraviolet Light

Long-term exposure to UV rays can accelerate the skin aging process. This is because UV rays may damage the collagen and elastin in the deep layers of the skin (dermis). The effect of the damage to the two connective tissues will cause the skin to become too loose, thereby accelerating the appearance of wrinkles.

  • Smoking Cigarettes

The nicotine in cigarettes can cause narrow blood vessels in the outer layer of the skin. This condition disrupts blood flow to the skin so that the skin experiences a lack of oxygen and nutrients. Cigarettes can also damage elastin and collagen, thereby accelerating the appearance of wrinkles.

  • Facial Expressions

Every time someone makes an expression such as smiling, squinting or frowning, the facial muscles will form wrinkles under the surface of the skin. As we get older, facial muscles will lose their flexibility and wrinkles will become more visible.

Uncontrollable factors:

  • Aging

Due to aging process, skin elasticity will slowly decrease. In addition, decreased oil production can cause skin to become drier and appear more wrinkled. Fat in the deeper layers of the skin will also be reduced, so that the skin becomes loose and the lines that form are more visible.

What are the different types of wrinkles?

There are 2 types of wrinkles, namely dynamic creasing and static creasing. Dynamic wrinkles form when we move certain muscle groups, such as when we smile or frown. These wrinkles usually do not appear when our muscles are relaxed or expressionless.

Over the years, the dynamic forming of wrinkles are constantly formed through facial movement, some wrinkles have become more permanent and can appear even when we are not expressing ourselves. This is called static wrinkling.

How do we treat static wrinkles?

Static wrinkles are fine lines that develop on the skin, usually in areas of active dynamic wrinkles. The main treatment that can be done is to inject filler into the folds to fill in lines or wrinkles. Apart from reducing wrinkles, filler treatment can also be used to prevent deeper lines or wrinkles.

How do we treat dynamic wrinkles?

In contrast to static wrinkles, dynamic wrinkles are treated not by using fillers, but by injecting Botox which is used to relax the muscles on the face and reduce dynamic wrinkles.

Side effects that may appear are injection marks and bruising at the injection site which will disappear in a few days.

There are several ways that Dermalovers can do to prevent it, namely by using products of retinoid creams that contain vitamin A and for the treatment either microdermabrasion or chemical peels. In addition, prevention can be done by avoiding outdoor activities from 10 am to 2 pm when the sun is very hot. Avoid smoking and don't forget to get enough sleep every day, Dermalovers!
